Hi All
Great Tread!!
I'm also looking into getting a new set of Shocks and have been recommended Cofaq. I know that they are South American, how do they compare with the Blistein and Koni - is there much of a difference? Cheers.

Yep, HEAPS of difference.

Cofap are a great standard replacement shock, that give reasonable service life, main thing is they will give you the correct valving whereas many replacement shocks actually don't have the 'correct' valving so can give a very harsh ride.

Bilstein on the other hand are arguably the best on the planet, are 3 times the price, are a firmer (note NOT harsh) ride but last nearly for ever if used for the street. Just make sure you get the correct ones for your vehicle and use.

Hi
Bilstein and KONI are the Rolls Royces of Shock absorbers...

other shocks are nothing like those...
and nothing is as expensive as those... lol

so, You get what You pay for... with other shocks...

so, does anyone know of a NON - KONI -Bilstein
gas pressurised shock for the front of a ball joint beetle??

LEE

Lee, as above, KYB, or Boge oil, but the KYB's will be cheaper and the gas won't be an issue, it's the valving that makes the difference.

Hi
Bilstein and KONI are the Rolls Royces of Shock absorbers... are you sure .

were i come from there are some of the medioka brand's.perfect for the car's we love and drive every day.
but please there are many of other brands out there, problem is no one on this forum has heard of them due to the fact that they are worth more per shock than most of our car's.

Hi

Well they may the norm in Europe...

but very expensive down here...

I forgot about Boge shocks too...

also forgot about KYB japanese shocks..

I also understand about the valves...

which allow oil to flow fast or slow...

cheers
